There is theimpressive group activities in this week. It is the discussion about my own leadership vision. After that discussion, I understood we have different ideas about "leadership". For example, Yu said, He actually doesn't like group works because he prefers to carry on his task by himself. So he wants to lead other group members when there is group works. Mizuki said, she has opposite idea. She prefers to do coorperate with others rather than leading others. And Aoi said, "Leader" should have responsibility to speak out own opinions with confidence.
In my opnions, there are two types in leadership concepts. As explained about in Yu's blog, "independet leadership" is less considering other ideas and rather taking stick to own idea and making member follow that idea. On the other hand, "coorperate leaedrship" is more consider other ideas and facilitate them to take action. Shakleton seemed to have first "leadership". However, true leader has both of two type of leadership. If Shakleton was true leader, he would have second one too.

WⅡ:About chapter1 of Leading at the edge
It is difficult for the leaders to change the original plan. It is obvious from the historical perspectives.
For example, at the end of the Pacific War, the Japanese imperial headquarters
couldn't choose the choice to surrender until atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They did stick to their plan and couldn't save the life of nations. If they could give up this war at the appropriate time, so many people who were unnecessarily dead would be saved.
There are other historical events that shows once the leader took his plan, he continue to do in accordance with that plan.
On the other hand, Shakleton could do that. So, he became a hero among some people.
In chapter1, there are two lessons for the leaders: big vision and concrete action.
In order to explain about these lessons, "Intel example" is used. That example is famous in Japanese education. At that time, Japanese chip companies got the better of Intel because Japanese wage level are lower than U.S.A. Of course, It seems that So far, So good for those companies. However, they couldn't expect it to happen that they wolud be overtook by cheaper chips like Chinese companies. In the result, so many Japanese chip companies bankrupted. The reson why they failed is showed by Shakleton.
They didn't have big vision and were satisfied with present state. If they expected and prepared for it, they could change the original plan and still exsit like Intel.

WI: Reflection about the class
In first week, I learned the three things: hand-shakes, how power posing and the social intelligence of leadership. and actual leadership skill from Ken.
After first week, I thought that this class focuesd on the communication things in this week. That reason seems that communication things are important in leadership, and , of course, that it was first class.
About hand-shakes,, Ken taught us that the key points about hand-shakes is brief, firm and warm. It seems like the lecture but also he used hand-shakes skills to reduce the physical and mental distance between teacher and students. He looked more friendly and better teacher after hand-shaking with him.
Next, we learned power-posing skill. Of course power-posing skill is important but his actual target is to reduce the next distance: between students. We did introduce ourselves before our classmates. It is usually too nervous for us to do, but Ken directed naturally us to do it. "It is just practice of power-posing"
Also we learned social inteligence. The key concept of the reading is that human action and behavior is related to their neural system. For example, the collegues are attracted to the leader who can create postive mood. The positive mood means the place for people to be easy to express their feeling. So as to do, the leader should respect their ideas from his collegues and not stick to own his idea. Our teacher actually do that. He emphasizes the cultural difference and give us to opportunites to express our idea.
I noticed that our teacher Ken taught us one of the leading skil, communicationl and already started to lead us at same time.

W1:New class
Hi, I'm Ando Kazutaka. Please call me Andy.
This is my first post, so I am going to write things about myself .
I came from Osaka last year, now I live in the zelkova dorm in the ICU.
I want to explain about my city which I was born in.
My city is called Nanko. It means the south port. My city is a little bit far from the center of Osaka, the second largest city in Japan. It faces the sea and big ships came to stop at the port. Once, I had seen the United States naval ships once time before. You may look at this picture and think that "it's ocean-view and so great". However, it is famous that Osaka sea is dirty, you can't swim in it. I don't recommend my city to tourists.
Osaka is one of the city that many tourists who come to. The place to visit for them are Dotonbori or Tsutenkaku or etc.
In ICU life, I almost spend time in the dorm such as eat breakfast and sleep and lunch and sleep and dinner and sleep.
About my major, I take mainly the class that deals with political science, so I will major in it.
And I like soccer, but as I said in the class, I got injured last year and medical surgery in this summer. I don't come back to ICU soccer club yet, but I want to play again.
Thank you for reading my blog and please give me some comments.
